Strap Up

This was the second of two tracks Strange Thing and I created the first time we got in the studio together. Such a blast working with that lad. The tune goes HARD. It’s big, it’s heavy, and very fun.

“Strap Up” is a statement. Konka and Strange Thing build their halftime drum and bass colossus from the most minimal of starting points, a simple two-note plucked melody that grows and swells with quiet menace until the drop arrives and transforms it into a wall of massive bass. Everything revolves around that central melodic idea, stretched, distorted and glitched beyond recognition yet somehow always familiar, as big beats groove beneath and fractured bass textures weave through the arrangement. Small seed, enormous tree.
